Picture of a LK10 Coordinator
Draft 7/13/16
Commentary in blue. The whole concept of LK10 Coordinators continues to be an exciting experiment that we are all part of. We enter into it with a spirit of “let’s try this out and see what we learn!” Based on what we learn, we will continue to modify and improve this document. So, tell us what you are learning!
What is it like to join Leader 101 and become a LK10 Coordinator?
- “I get to be part of something bigger than myself and my own ministry which sparks my vision and fuels my kingdom perseverance” –John Parker, LK10 Coordinator for the West Coast
- “I enjoy our hangouts because the guys in our team have been at this much longer than I have and I feel like I am learning so much from everyone. I love the way everyone is so supportive and encouraging. you instantly feel like part of the “family”.” -Jen Hamilton, LK10 Coordinator for Thailand
- “It is awesome to be alongside other church planters who have such diverse experience and insights and who obviously listen to the Lord and care about my life as well. –Larry Silver, LK10 Coordinator for Ohio
- “I’m so grateful for the people in our hangout group! They have become precious to me as we share our stories of God’s workings in our lives, and encourage each other by listening and speaking the truth in love as The Lord leads us.” -Cathy Mellon, LK10 Coordinator (with her husband) for Central Texas
- We have been excited to have our vision stretched to think new ways about nurturing and multiplying community within the Vineyard Church where we are on pastoral staff. –Kent and Cathy Larson, LK10 Coordinators for Orange County, CA
Are you a LK10 Coordinator?
We think that most LK10 Coordinators will have a regional or geographic focus. (Coordinator for Germany, Coordinator for Texas, etc.) At the same time, we recognize that some Coordinators will be led to focus more on a people group (college students, artists, etc.). Join us in experimenting with what designations work best.
This next section describes the kind of people we are asking the Lord of the harvest for. Men and women who look like this…
Values of a Coordinator
It is our common love for Jesus and our common values that unite us. LK10 Coordinators find that they resonate emotionally and intellectually with the following…
- LK10 Vision (how we want to impact the world): To fulfill the Great Commission by seeing a vibrant family of Jesus (healthy house church, etc.) within easy reach of every person in every region and people group on earth. See https://www.lk10.dev.cc/who-we-are/our-story/
- LK10 Mission (what we will do to accomplish our Vision): Connect and equip emerging house church leaders around the world.
- LK10 DNA (our values and practices, the culture of our community): See https://www.lk10.dev.cc/who-we-are/our-dna/
The LK10 DNA document is quite important. Among other things, it helps people decide if the LK10 Community is what they are called to be part of. “Ideology is the glue that holds decentralized organizations (ie, starfish organizations) together.” From The Starfish and the Spider: The Unstoppable Power of Leaderless Organizations by Brafman and Beckstrom. (JW: Let me know if you would like my summary of this fascinating book.)

Gifting/Calling/Character of a Coordinator
- Faithful (follows through). Available (has the time to commit). Teachable (hungry to learn). Read 2 Tim. 2:2.
- Heart and character of a mature, healthy spiritual mom or dad. Read 1 Thes. 2:6-12, 1 Tim 3, Titus 1. Carries their disciples in their heart (Phil 1:7)
- Heart of a servant: seeks to make others successful. Empowers others.
- Apostolic desire/calling/gifting. History of starting things. Especially, small groups (house churches, etc.) Apostle: man or woman called and gifted to plant multiple churches.
- Vision for a church planting movement in specific region (neighborhood, city, state, country) or people group. Deep desire to see LK10 Vision fulfilled there.
- Team player.
- Comfortable with experimenting.
Activities of a Coordinator
- Has completed Church 101. Practices the rhythms of attention and teaches them to others.
- Has subscribed to the LK10 Newsletter.
- Signed up for Leader101. Committed to their Leader Team. Makes meetings/hangouts a priority. Seeks to help/encourage others on the Team and help them be successful.
- Studying and praying through Leader 101 Lessons each month. (See Library on website. Scroll down to see Lesson in right column). Discuss on Leader Team hangouts.
- Committed to larger LK10 Community. Shares LK10 stories (10:2b answers, etc.).
- Prays 10:2b for their region and/or people group. As close to daily as possible. With another when possible. Uses this document to describe the kinds of people they are asking the Lord of the harvest for. Has a specific long-range prayer goal (a “crazy goal”!) for number of churches for their region. We believe that we are invited to be part of an epic story (“make disciples of every ethne”). As a result, we can embrace huge prayer goals (a million house churches in the US, for example). At the same time, we don’t want this to be legalistic or burdensome. We want Coordinators to approach these prayer goals with an almost playful curiosity about a grand experiment. (Looking eagerly to see what the Lord of the harvest will do.) There is also flexibility. Take a region or people group on for a season. If after a time, it no longer feels like a fit or God calls you to something else, there is complete freedom to make a change.
- Looks for 10:2b answers (people of peace, apostolic church planters) especially in their region or people group. Prays for them, serves them, helps them through Church 101.
- Forms a Leader Team. As the Lord sends 10:2b answers in their region or people group, the Coordinator forms a Leader Team using this document and the Apostolic Rhythms.
- Monthly financial investment in the leader of their Leader Team and/or LK10. See 1 Cor 9:11.
