A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE LK10 BOARD
Dr. Kent Smith is a professor at the Graduate School of Theology at Abilene Christian University and is one of the founders of the LK10 Community. He is also the President of the LK10 Board of Directors. In addition, I meet with Kent and Jordan Bunch every Wednesday morning in a hangout to check in with each other and to talk through and pray through what we see the Lord doing in the LK10 Community.
65 MILLION “DONES”
In this video, Kent observes the striking disparity between two kinds of people. On the one hand is the unbounded joy of the man who discovers treasure hidden in a field and sells everything to buy that field. (Jesus speaking of the kingdom of heaven in Mt. 13:44) On the other hand, the 65 million adults in the US who have become so disillusioned with their experience of church that they have given up and left. The new term describing them is the “Dones”. (Packard, Church Refugees) What’s wrong with this picture?!
Then, Kent describes the important role that LK10 has in helping people rediscover the joy and delight of the kingdom of heaven. (Many of you have experienced this new found intimacy with other believers and with the King!) Please take time to hear what Kent has to say about this “larger story” and the way you can partner with us in this expanding mission.
