Several weeks ago, you gave us helpful feedback on the first mock-up for our new LK10 website. Now, we would like your comments on this new version that Tim Morris has designed. Scroll down to see what the mock-up looks like and, then, come back here. I’ll explain what we are thinking and how you can help.
Our first goal is that a visitor to the site will immediately be able to know if they are at the right place. As we pray Lk 10:2b, the Lord of the harvest is sending us people that He has prepared. Often, these people have a hunger in their heart for a way of doing/being church that is different from what they have known in the past. There are two things at the top of the site that communicate our understanding of church. The first is the picture. The second are the adjectives that describe the word “CHURCH”. Question: What do you think of the five adjectives we have used? Is there a different adjective you think would be better?
Once a visitor determines they are at the right place, we offer them a series of Four Steps that allow them to engage with the LK10 Community at their own pace. Each Step offers more benefits and requires greater commitment.
1. In the first Step (1. Explore), there will be a video of me explaining how to explore the site and explaining the Four Steps for engaging with the LK10 Community. Part of exploring will be encouraging people to look at past editions of the LK10 Newsletter found in the LK10 Library. (BTW, a recent visitor from Illinois said he had read over 50 articles in the Library in the last couple of weeks and was already using the rhythms with his family before he even started Church 101!)
2. In the second section (2. Subscribe), the video here will not be of me but of several members of the Community talking about the benefits of being on the mailing list for the LK10 Newsletter. (The picture of me in the mock-up is just a place holder.) If visitors resonate with what they find when they Explore, they can take the next small step and Subscribe to the Newsletter.
3. In the third section (3. Experience), visitors can take a much larger step and sign up for a Church 101 class. Again, the video here is not of me but will be members of the Community talking about their experience with Church 101.
4. In the fourth section (4. Join), people who have completed Church 101 will have the opportunity to take a significant next step and sign up for a new class that we are developing called Leader 101. This is for people who are either leading or planning to lead a small group (house church, etc). Leader 101 classes will be small supportive communities (communities of practice) where people can learn best practices for building truly vibrant families of Jesus. Again, the video of me is just a place holder. The real video will be of LK10 members talking about the value things like community and coaching for leaders. We will be sharing more about Leader 101 in the weeks to come. Question: We aren’t sure “Join” is the best word to use here. Perhaps “Train” would be better. What do you think?
Now, tell us what you think of the mock-up before Tim begins the actual building of the new site. What do you like? What isn’t clear? What could be improved? Scroll all the way down and give us your comments in the box called “Leave a Reply”.
Thanks for your help!
John
