A key practice for every successful house church leaders and church planters

A church planter named Paul:  “I thank my God every time I remember you.”  Phil. 1:3

Thankfulness is a critical, but often overlooked, practice of all successful church leaders.

Why?  Not because it changes reality but because it changes our perception of reality.  As we cultivate the practice of thankfulness for what God is doing in the lives of the people we are leading, our brains are literally “rewired”.  We begin to be much more aware of what God is doing and how we can join Him.  Our resiliency increases so that we are able to persevere when people go through the inevitable ups and downs in their spiritual journeys.  And, that thankfulness “rubs off” onto the people we lead as we model it for them.

The incredible power of intentional thankfulness seems to be built into the very fabric of the world that God has created.  Research into the effect of thankfulness on the human brain is now emerging in a relatively new discipline called “positive psychology”.  Check out this engaging video.  What are the implications for you as a house church leader or church planter?

“In everything give thanks for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  1 Thes. 5:18
