A leader in the house church movement recently remarked…
“We (the house church movement) have not lived up to what we have promised. Most of what I see is old wine in new wineskins.”
What’s the old wine? I believe it’s program centered Christianity. (Program = man’s best efforts to accomplish God’s purposes.) It’s the gospel of knowledge and duty. (Where we are continually exhorted to learn more and be more missional.) It’s “make it happen” ministry. It’s many of the things we learned in traditional church about how church functions.
