Soul Friend

Soul Friend

The “soul friend” is one of the great ideas lingering from the period of the Celtic revival (ca. 430-900 AD). A soul friend, as originally practiced, was one with whom you shared living space and life. Soul friends were transparent to one another, devoted to one another, and always concerned to say and do only what would build the other up in the Lord.
Desi:  “So my good friend Jan Cowles sent me this little article on the Celtic idea of “soul friends.”  Since Jan and I have been connecting on a near daily basis for some time and have grown in our friendship with each other over this past year through praying with and for each other and His kingdom as well as sharing life together on the phone and have been “CO2ing” together for a while now I can say that this kind of connecting together on a heart level with someone else and with God together seems to me to be near vital.  Some of us have come to see these kind of relationships as the basis that all church life and ministry flow out of.”
