Dear Dawn Associates,
One of the things I like about Dawn is that it provides a safe “place” where church planters from different backgrounds can come together and learn from each other. This can happen because Dawn is compatible with many other ministry organizations.
One good example of this is my friend, Kevin Sutter. Kevin is a Dawn Associate and is the International Director of YWAM’s Church Planting Coaches. See below for his understanding of this complimentary relationship with both YWAM and Dawn. (For more on Kevin and his ministry, see http://cpcoaches.com/cpc_coords.htm )

From Kevin…
Dear Dawn friends,
For over 15 years I have been coordinating coaching for YWAM church planting teams working among unreached people groups. With a growing personal desire to plant simple churches with *anyone, anytime, anywhere*, I wanted to join with others committed to multiplying simple churches in North America (where we currently live). I was invited to become a Dawn Associate in 2004. This added dimension has been wonderful. I've found that Dawn's values and ministry principles are very compatible with ours. Times together with the Dawn Coaching Network have been inspiring and practical.
Not only has this relationship helped me with a newly developing house church network in my local community (in Northern California), but also with my international work. Here are a few examples: Thanks to Tom Wymore's coaching training, we have made significant improvements to our YWAM coaching training. John White coaches me by phone every other week, which helps me stay on track and provides me with fresh examples of how to be a better coach. The Dawn Update often gives input relevant to the church which meets in my home and also to the gatherings I influence in Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist communities.
John asked me to tell you all about the most exciting development so far, in this informal Dawn/YWAM partnership: Roger Thoman (who I became friends with at the Dawn Coaching Network gathering in San Antonio) and I, along with my wife Laura and his wife Brookes, will go to Thailand early next year (JW: they are in Thailand right now) to serve church planters working in East Asia. Using a format very similar to what Dawn used in Denver and San Antonio, we will gather YWAM church planters from that region to hear from the Lord and one another on how to progress in multiplying simple, indigenous churches among unreached peoples. The gathering will be relational and interactive. Topics are chosen by those who attend and there will be no "special speakers". Sound familiar? (JW: These gatherings provide a necessary compliment to the large, speaker-oriented conferences that we are all familiar with. Our hope is to see dozens of these smaller (no more than 30 people), interactive, relational, Spirit led conferences. If you are interested in this kind of conference in your area, please contact me (John). )
As a missionary, I see teaming up with like-minded Dawn people in North America and beyond as a potentially huge step forward toward the vision we hold in common!
Please pray for the Thomans and the Sutters as we prepare and as we go. In the next 2 years, I will be helping to facilitate another 10 or so gatherings from North Africa, through the Middle East and across Asia. Maybe the Lord has a few other Dawn Associates who will join in one or more of these? Please pray about that too.
